Another successful #techteamMA chat!
"What are the benefits of having a tech team?"
- To be honest 140 characters on Twitter could not cover all of what I wanted to say! Between troubleshooting students/teachers technology issues, learning how to network in the business world, and attending education conferences, there is a lot that tech teams do!
"What makes a tech team appealing to students?"
- At Burlington High School we are making the tech team (otherwise known as "Help Desk") an honors level course next year. Our teacher, Ms. Scheffer, has really pushed for this because of all the work we do! I think by making the tech team an honors level course it will draw more attention to students in the school to join. The amount of real world knowledge that is gained is incredible and with those two factors alone I think it makes joining a tech team a no brainer.
"How do you think being on a tech team will prepare you for college and your future career?"
- Like I said before, the real world knowledge gained in Help Desk is awesome and I think that it is preparing me for the real world and for what is to come. With this real world knowledge comes the opportunities to meet people in the working world and make connections! Last month I attended the Learn Launch Conference at Harvard University and it was a excellent way to meet people in the business world. Ms. Scheffer even introduced me to one of her former students that is now working for Google! It was a unique experience to collect business cards and make connections. You really never know who you will cross paths with down the road!
Overall I thought that the Twitter chat was a success and really allowed tech team students like myself to express our experiences on a tech team! I hope with this chat comes improvements to tech teams around the state and even makes other schools realize the importance of having a tech team. I look forward to the next #techteamMA chat!
